Beaumont Athletes shine at the County Champs

On Saturday (11th June) 14 Beaumont Athletes competed at the Jarman Park Athletics Track in the Herts Schools Athletics Championships. The best athletes from over 60 schools are eligible to enter, in what is always a high quality meeting.
Everyone who competed did an excellent job with a number of our athletes finishing in the top three in their events.
Izzy Thompson was our first top 3 finisher, coming second in the Inter Girls 3000m. Olivia Amond (Pre Junior Girls 200m in 28.8s) and Rowen Seglah (Inter Girls pole vault - 2.30m) soon added 2 more second place finishes with Adi Milton adding a third place in the pre junior girls long jump with a 4.10m jump.
Holly Seglah became our first County Champion in the last event of the morning, throwing an excellent 27.95m to win the Junior Girls javelin.
In the first event of the afternoon, Adi Milton became our second County Champion, winning the Pre Junior Girls 70m hurdles in a time of 12.5 seconds (a County Best performance) in a very exciting race. Olivia Almond then capped an outstanding day for year 7 by adding a third place in the Pre Junior Girls javelin to her second place in the 200m.
Holly Seglah then became our first ever double County Champion winning the 200m in a very close race, equalling her school record of 27.00s, an outstanding performance.
Congratulations to everyone who competed, and thank you to Rowen Seglah, Izzy Thompson and Chris Hilton who competed in their last County Championships for Beaumont and who have been consistently high performing and very committed performers for Beaumont over the last five years.

School Record Broken!!

Congratulations to Holly Seglah who became the first athlete this season to break a school record. She threw the javelin 28.90m in a recent County League match, beating a record of 27.35m that has stood since 1999. Well done Holly, and lets hope this is the first of many school records broken by Beaumont Athletes this year.

Senior Team retain District Championships

Congratulations to the Senior District Athletics Squad who retained the Senior District Athletics Trophy, winnig it for the 11th time in the last 14 years. The girls team finished in 4th place behind ST Albans High School, Sir John Lawes and St Georges, with the boys in third behind STABS and St Columbas. Our combined points total of 230 points was 6 points ahead of Sir John Lawes and puts us in a good position for the overall Brother Leo trophy later in the season.
The squad was a mixture of year 11, 12 and 13 pupils with the following athletes making a top 3 position in their event:

Rowen Seglah (100m champion)
Carl Palin (400m champion, new District record)
