On Saturday (11th June) 14 Beaumont Athletes competed at the Jarman Park Athletics Track in the Herts Schools Athletics Championships. The best athletes from over 60 schools are eligible to enter, in what is always a high quality meeting.
Everyone who competed did an excellent job with a number of our athletes finishing in the top three in their events.
Izzy Thompson was our first top 3 finisher, coming second in the Inter Girls 3000m. Olivia Amond (Pre Junior Girls 200m in 28.8s) and Rowen Seglah (Inter Girls pole vault - 2.30m) soon added 2 more second place finishes with Adi Milton adding a third place in the pre junior girls long jump with a 4.10m jump.
Holly Seglah became our first County Champion in the last event of the morning, throwing an excellent 27.95m to win the Junior Girls javelin.
In the first event of the afternoon, Adi Milton became our second County Champion, winning the Pre Junior Girls 70m hurdles in a time of 12.5 seconds (a County Best performance) in a very exciting race. Olivia Almond then capped an outstanding day for year 7 by adding a third place in the Pre Junior Girls javelin to her second place in the 200m.
Holly Seglah then became our first ever double County Champion winning the 200m in a very close race, equalling her school record of 27.00s, an outstanding performance.
Congratulations to everyone who competed, and thank you to Rowen Seglah, Izzy Thompson and Chris Hilton who competed in their last County Championships for Beaumont and who have been consistently high performing and very committed performers for Beaumont over the last five years.
