Track and Field Cup results - Friday 12th May

On Friday almost 50 athletes competed in the County Round of the Track and Field Cup. It is the first time in several years that we have entered all 4 age groups in this team competition where every athlete has to compete in 2 different events. Points are scored for each performance and are added together to give a final team score.

The Inter Boys age group saw the team finish 5th with 238 points out of 8 which was impressive when the fact 4 boys did not compete is taken into account. If they had, the team may have qualified for at least a B final.
Selected results:
Harry Dean 24.0s 200m, 11.99m shot putt, Ben Spencer 40.9s 300m, Declan Jackson 2.50m Pole Vault (5cm off school record), Tom Cooper 2m13s 800m, 1.50m high jump, Sam MacKinnon 13.9s 80m Hurdles.

The Junior Girls are really coming together as a team and also finished 5th, scoring 251 points. I am really hopeful that they will use this as a springboard to perform even better in the County League and District Championships.
Selected results:
800m Hannah Whelan 2m51.7s, 1500m Scarlett Parkes 5m35.0s, Discus Daisy Porter 14.39m,
200m Diasy Porter 30.2s, Susie Weidmann 30.5s, Francesca Rich Javelin 17.12m

The Inter Girls team performed very well and are developing into a strong team with strength in depth and a real team ethos. They finished an excellent third with 291 points (only 7 points off second) and have an outside chance of a B final depending on other results.
Selected results:
Amelie Rodgers 200m 29.8s high jump 1m38cm, Olivia Chrisp 300m 47.5s Triple Jump 8.06m, Hurdles Bo Westcombe Evans 13.4s Long Jump 4.17m, Triple Jump Amber Young 8.61m (Close to school record), Discus Hannah McCorkindale Brown 20.38m Rachel King 20.97m.

The Junior Boys were our most successful team, finishing second out of 8 scoring an excellent 308 points. They have a chance of a B final and are now realising their potential by having all of their athletes competing regularly. A really strong team performance.
Selected results:
Jacques Cameron 100m 13.3s Long Jump 4.50m, Charlie Richards 200m 28.6s, 800m Liam Hayes 2m41.8s Daragh Gallaghe 2m39s, 1500m Sam Hicks 4m48.6s (NEW SCHOOL RECORD), Hurdles Max Tym 13.9s, Triple Jump Jack Watham 8.46m, Javelin Stefano Geymonat 23.22m

Everyone who competed worked hard, demonstrated a high level of focus and athletic ability and were a credit to be with on the day. Thank you all for making it a fun and successful day and well done Sam on a new school record!!
